AI Notes

AI Notes, a quiz and flashcards for every video you study

AI Notes are study notes written by AI from a YouTube video's transcript and from nothing else. They contain a summary, key concepts, important points, takeaways, practical examples, terminology, action items, learning objectives and questions to test yourself.

Updated

A video is a poor format to revise from. You cannot skim it, search it or check yourself against it. Notes fix the first two problems and questions fix the third.

Writing good notes takes about as long as the video. AI Notes are ready in up to a minute, and the quiz and flashcards are made for you.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Open a video

Open any video in the app. It plays in YouTube's embedded player.

  2. Step 2

    Generate AI Notes

Choose Generate AI Notes. They are also offered when you finish the video. A long video can take up to a minute.

  3. Step 3

    Test yourself

Take the quiz, which is ordered from easy to hard and marked for you, and review the flashcards, ticking off the ones you know.

  4. Step 4

    Come back to them

Notes are saved to your account and are there next time. You can regenerate them to have them written again from the latest transcript.

What you get

Written from the transcript

The AI reads the video's captions and writes from that text alone. Nothing is filled in from the model's general knowledge.

Covers the whole video

A long video is covered from start to finish, not only the first few minutes.

Built for revision

Key concepts, terminology, examples, action items and learning objectives are separated, so you can find what you need.

A quiz for each video

Five to ten questions, each with an explanation, ordered from easy to hard. Answers are marked on the server and your score is kept.

Flashcards

A set of cards for each video. Mark the ones you know and return to the rest.

Linked to your roadmap

Notes show which of your roadmap objectives the video covers.

What to know before you rely on it

  • A video needs captions. If it has none, or only a few words such as a music video, no notes are written. You are told why and it does not count against your daily allowance.
  • Notes capture what is said. Anything only shown on screen, such as code, diagrams or technique, is not in the transcript.
  • AI Notes can be wrong or miss nuance. Check anything important against the video. They are not professional, academic, financial, legal or medical advice.
  • Daily allowance: 3 videos a day on the free trial, 30 on Pro, unlimited on Premium. Premium notes go into more depth, with more self-test questions.
  • The quiz and flashcards are on the web application.

Questions

How are AI Notes different from a YouTube summary?

A summary tells you what a video is about. AI Notes are structured for study: a summary plus key concepts, terminology, examples, action items, learning objectives and questions to test yourself, with a quiz and flashcards for the same video.

Can it make notes for any YouTube video?

For any video that has captions with enough text. Videos without captions, or with only a few words, cannot produce notes because there is no transcript to work from.

How long does it take?

Usually well under a minute. A long video can take up to a minute.

Are the quiz questions taken from the video?

Yes. The quiz and flashcards are written from the video's transcript, once per video, and each question has an explanation.

Can I export my notes?

Notes are saved in your account and available on the web and in the app. Report export to PDF and CSV is part of the Premium plan.
